Sump
Pump
Sump pump what you’re
looking to install in your basement? Here are some things
to consider. Don’t jump to conclusions and assume
all sump pumps are created equal. Do your research and
choose a pump of high quality to assure that it will
give you many hours of use. While horsepower is often
a good indication of overall power of machinery, this
isn’t the biggest factor when choosing a sump
pump. You need to be more concerned with the gallons
per hour the pump can remove. It’s a good idea
to invest in a pump a little larger than you actually
need so it doesn’t have to work as hard and will
last longer.
A water powered sump pump
is one that is run by the water flowing through it instead
of receiving power from an electrical source. Water-powered
sump pumps can be an energy efficient option
when considering a sump pump.
There are two basic types of sump
pump:
- Submersible – Has a watertight motor that
can be immersed in water.
- Pedestal – Has an open motor that is supported
on top of a column attached to the pump casing.
The motor sits outside the sump pump
and sits above the basement floor.
Of these two, they both perform equally
as well. A professional waterproofing contractor can
help you determine which is the best one for your home.
