Flooring
in Wet Basement

Q:
I need to know what flooring works best in a wet basement.
The basement isn’t flooding but it stays pretty damp
down there and tends to grow mold. We would like to
finish the basement so it’s usable, but I need to know
what will work well in these conditions.
A: Before you spend any money on finishing the
space, you’ve got to do some waterproofing. No flooring
will hold up to those types of conditions. Furthermore,
none of your possessions would survive it either. Mold
is a major health concern as well. Get your wet basement
problem fixed first, then finish the space.
