French Drain Installation

A French drain installation can help you maintain how much standing water you may get in your yard. Water that sits next to your foundation could be damaging your foundation and even seeping into your basement.

French drain installations are a great solution for removing standing ground water from around your foundation. If your yard has a proper slope, a simple French drain installation can be dug so the water can be redirected to another part of your property or to a city storm drain. If your yard doesn’t slope away from your foundation you will need to use something like a builder’s level to determine how deep to dig the French drain so that it slopes properly. If the trench doesn’t slope the water will continue to collect next to your foundation and you may even end up with more water around your foundation.

A drain tile is a similar concept but installed inside your basement and constructed a little differently. A drain tile inside your basement should be part of a whole system to remove water from your basement. For more information on drain tile installation check out our installing drain tile page.

Standing ground water is only ONE of the problems that can cause a wet basement. Simply removing standing ground water with a French drain installation is not guaranteed to keep your basement dry. There are other problems that can cause wet basements. To find out what your situation calls for and how to keep your basement clean and dry contact a waterproofing professional for a consultation and inspection.
