The Problem With Clogged Draintile

Monday, November 24th, 2008

When your home was built, a drainage system was put under ground around the perimeter of your home.  This system is a flexible pipe called draintile.

Over the years - as water washes through the draintile, dirt and debris start to build up on the inside.  Not only that but the dirt that was packed on top of the draintile is heavy and has crushed the piping over time.

What you are left with is a drainage system that has failed you - resulting in a flooded basement.

Clogged draintile can be “unclogged” by flushing the pipes out but this will not correct the problem permanently.  Dirt and debris will still be washed through your draintile and will eventually build up again.

There are other options for basement drains that are still beneath your basement floor and do not clog with dirt or debris.  Click here TODAY to find out more!

Why Have Crawlspace Beam Supports?

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

The picture above shows a crawlspace where the homeowner has had crawlspace beam supports installed.  Why would anyone need crawlspace beam supports though?

If you are thinking about getting that new granite kitchen counter top or even that pool table you have always wanted - you have to also think about what is going to support that extra weight.

What if you just have some beams that are damaged from moisture?  Sure, you could replace the beam but that can get very expensive.  Also, if you don’t get rid of the moisture in your crawlspace the beam you replace with rot again.

The Effects Of Rotted Crawlspace Wood

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

Take a look at the crawlspace wood in the picture above.  Can you see how the beam in this crawlspace has rotted almost the entire way through?  Do you know the effects of rotted crawlspace wood?

The beams in your crawlspace support your floors.  When they rot - they fail!  You can, however, prevent rotted crawlspace wood.

Have a Certified Inspector do an evaluation of your crawlspace.  They will be able to tell you if you have any water or moisture issues in your crawlspace as well as what options you have to keep it dry.
