Basement
Sealer
Basement sealer
is not a true solution to waterproofing a basement.
While the idea sounds like it would work here is why
it doesn’t. You are only sealing the interior
of the basement walls. You are not creating a solution
for actually removing the water. You are simply trapping
it inside your walls. Eventually this water will seek
another way into your basement and in the meantime will
be destroying your foundation walls from the inside
out.
Basement sealant
cannot truly stop water. Water can only be managed.
A basement sealer does nothing to manage the water,
it attempts to stop it. So, to save yourself time, frustration,
money and damage to your home’s foundation, stay
away from basement sealers.
An alternative to wet
basement sealer is an interior drain tile system
working with a sump pump. Drain tile is a trench dug
into your basement floor close to the wall that collects
the water entering the basement. From there, the water
travels to a sump basin where it is removed from the
basement by a sump pump. It is important to note that
the discharge for the sump pump must be an adequate
distance from your home so that you are not repeatedly
removing the same water over and over.
In summary, to remedy your basement
water issues, it is best to contact an experienced
waterproofing company to help manage your water problem.
A drain tile system is not something you should tackle
yourself, because if constructed improperly, you can
cause structural damage. This is a project for a qualified
professional.
