Basement Paint

Basement paint is often advertised as a solution to a wet basement. Before you go spending your money let’s look at some facts about basement paints. 

Waterproofing paint is another name that basement paints may go by. Many manufacturers may tell you that their product can stop water from getting into your basement. Well, that’s about half true. While sealing your basement walls with basement paint or some sort of concrete sealer can stop the water from getting into the interior of your basement temporarily, it’s neither a permanent or even good solution.

Basement waterproofing paint and concrete sealers only seal the inside of your walls. Water is still getting into your foundation and will eventually cause structural damage to your entire foundation. Because of this damage, cracks will at some point occur in your walls letting the water into the interior again. And, this time, you’ll have an even bigger expense because your foundation will need repair as well.

So, what’s a home owner to do about this? Instead of a temporary and inferior attempt at stopping the water, you need a complete solution.
